Shark Reef

This past week, we finished up our unit on sharks, and what better way to end it that by a trip to the "Shark Reef" in Las Vegas? Here is the gang, (minus me) at the entrance. They take your picture in the beginning, and you can buy it for 20 dollars or so at the end but...... this was MUCH cheaper!!

This was the first critter, the alligator. He (or she?) slept the whole time......

Jill is getting her first up-close encounter with HUGE fish.....she looks a little worried.....
Felicity checks her guide book, and readies her camera....
This is such a funny picture.....Scott got all the kids cameras, and here is what they looked like throughout the whole trip. Yup, we are now officially tourists in Las Vegas......lol.
This was an exhibit on piranhas. You can see them in the picture. People can actually swim with them without incident, as long as you are not bleeding. That's right, they are actually similar to sharks in that manner.

Cool-looking fish!!

All the kiddos in the under-water tunnel.
We visited the rays. It was a really cool thing!! They thought we would feed them, so they came right up to us.
Blake and me "petting" one, it felt like goo. Really cool.
These were super-cool jellyfish!!
And of course, an octopus and starfish friends.
Blake and Jillian say hi the the octopus.

ut-oh......
I hear the "jaws" theme song playing in the background......
Pretty awesome sea-turtle

We had fun, and the best part? the kids were free!!! It's always good to do fun things outside of the classroom, (or your kitchen, if you're lucky enough to "do" school there!!).
